Saint Thomas Aquinas

Feast Day: 28 January

Saint Thomas Aquinas is one of the greatest saints of the Dominican Order, whose works have left an indelible mark on Catholic Theology to this day. Saint Thomas was born toward theend of the year 1226 between Naples and Rome, close to the little town of Aquino, of which his father was Count. Going against the wishes of his parents, who had high hopes that he would join the Benedictine Order and live a very comfortable life, Thomas decided to join the Order of Preachers in 1224.

Letter of the Master of the Order 2012

On January 13, 2012, Fr. Bruno Cadoré O. P., the Master of the Order, issued a Letter in which he emphasizes once again the importance of preaching the Good News as Dominicans and the role women have in this particular task:

Young Lay Dominican Makes Final Promise

 

On the 4th of October (the Feast of St. Francis), Monica Rapeanu (member of Bl. Jane of Aza Chapter, St. Saviour's, Dublin) promised to live according to the Rule of the Laity of Saint Dominic for her whole life.

Monica made her final promise during Mass celebrated by Fr. Terence Crotty OP, Fr. Joe Dineen OP and Fr. Maurice Colgan OP.
